TipicME for Nokia Series 40: Manual and FAQ
If you have particular problem or question, you may wish to check here first to see if you can find the answer quickly. Otherwise, consult the user manual (currently under construction!)How much does it cost to use the TipicME instant messenger?
The client itself is free :-), but the cost of connecting is dependent on the rate structure of your carrier.
Typicaly an hour of connection time and 10 messages exchanged will add up to about 70KB of data traffic. It is usually more economical to choose a flat-rate plan if you are using WAP a lot
When I start TipicME, why does it ask me to connect to the Web?
The first time that you start this version of TipicME it must connect to the Internet to automatically complete the installation.
Only AFTER this step can you then register your username and password to start to exchange instant messages with your friends from your cell phone. TipicME needs to do this ONLY the first time that you use it, so it is best to just let it complete the operation by itself.
If it continually tries to connect to the Internet upon start up, you should re-install it.
Why do I have to use a WAP connection?
Although we are aware that in some countries it costs more than a normal GPRS connection, but the Nokia Series 40 phones can only use the WAP protocol exclusively to make these connections.
The other cellular phones that use GPRS utilize the TCP protocol, which is not supported by the Series 40 phones.
