TIMP for Small and Medium Businesses
Small Business Scenario
Let's take a hypothetical small company, mycompany.com, with business needs that can be met with an instant messaging solution. MyCompany.com is a 20-person company; some of the employees work from home or other remote locations. They expect to add 5 more employees and consultants in the coming months.

In order to help the teams collaborate more closely, they are looking at IM, Their requirements are:

  the ability for each employee to access their instant messaging client from their desktops at the office or from home;
  the ability for each employee to access their instant messaging client from their mobile phones, laptops or PDAs while on the road;
  the ability to add new users quickly and inexpensively; and
  the ability to install the instant messaging server on an existing Windows 2000 Server or XP, without the need to upgrade servers or add hardware.

Installed Technology Profile
Each employee has a computer that is connected to a small local network (LAN). Only a single computer in the office has access to the Internet via a single DSL or fiber-optic always-on connection to the local Internet Service Provider. TIMP Instant Messaging Platform is the perfect solution for mycompany.com.

Implementation Scenario
The evaluation version of TIMP Instant Messaging Server is downloaded, installed and tested. Mycompany.com has a static IP address with a company Domain Name, but TIMP could also work with a service like dyndns, if they happene to have had a Dynamic IP address. After the tests prove successful, the company decides to buy one 20 Concurrent Users License and quickly and simply add the new license code to the already installed demo server.

All employees download the TipicIM client (or any XMPP/Jabber client) on their desktops; some of the employees who are always on the road are given TipicME to install it on their mobile phones.

Expansion
Adding 5 employees is easy. Without reinstalling the server, one can buy a new license for 10 concurrent users and add it to the TIMP server.

Benefits
  Mycompany.com's employees now work more closely with their consultants and clients;
 they are more proactive and stay in closer contact with each other;
  TIMP does not need special attention or maintenance after installation; and
  companies can use an existing Windows 2000 server on which other applications run.
