Tipic Releases TIMP.NET Enterprise 2005, Instant Messaging Server for Wired and Wireless Environments and TipicME 3.0

April 28, 2005

TIMP.NET Enterprise 2005 the easy-to-install and manage instant messaging solution scalable to ISP grade deployments, yet competitively priced, is now available coupled with TipicME 3.0 mobile advanced instant messaging client.

NEW YORK, Apr. 28 – Tipic, Inc. (http://www.tipic.com), a pioneer of network independent, open protocol instant messaging platforms for wired and wireless devices, today announced the public joint release of TIMP.NET Enterprise 2005 and TipicME 3.0, the next generation instant messaging and presence server and the advanced mobile phone client, now available for UMTS phones.

TIMP.NET Enterprise 2005 is an open, scalable and secure instant messaging server for creating real-time communication services; it is designed for fast deployment, security, reliability and extensibility, enabling information exchange across multiple networks and devices. TIMP.NET Enterprise 2005 follows the IETF XMMP specifications for instant messaging and presence exchange and is now based on the Microsoft .NET framework.

TipicME 3.0 secure wireless client extends connectivity to mobile phones, offering access to TIMP.NET Enterprise 2005, and to XMPP servers, while in meetings or on the move; UMTS Phones support, photo sharing and active links are some of the latest additions.

“Back in 2002, TIMP 1.0 was the first instant messaging server based on XMPP (Jabber) to be available for the Windows platform. In 2003, TipicME was the first XMPP Wireless Client to be available for Symbian and Java Phones,” said Marco Palombi, CEO of Tipic. “So nobody should be surprised that today, in 2005, we are once again first to market with this easy-to-use instant messaging server for wired and wireless devices. It’s robust and flexible enough for massive ISP deployments”.

Mobile Communications
TipicME 3.0 supports an ample range of mobile platforms running on Nokia series 40 and series 60 mobile handsets, on Siemens and other brands that support SUN J2ME or Personal Java; TipicME is now also available on UMTS phones such as the SonyEricsson Z1010 and Motorola A1000. TipicME 3.0 interface has been revised, with improved usability, contextual menus and auto-login and is available as secure and signed application (certificated by Verisign).

Industrial Strength
Ideal for ISP carriers and massive deployments in general, TIMP.NET Enterprise 2005 allows for scalability and load balancing, supports multiple domains on one instance and off-the-shelf POP3, Windows and a variety DB authentications. Small and medium-sized companies can also benefit from using TIMP.NET.

Development Platform
Developers can create custom Microsoft .NET applications on top of TIMP.NET Enterprise 2005 without the need for in-depth knowledge of the presence and instant messaging protocols. With TIMP.NET application programming interface (API), developers can now add presence and IM functionality to existing enterprise systems and implement presence-aware applications to automate enterprise-wide communications, mobile computing, publish-subscribe features, and alerts.
Companies can license (white-label) TipicME and thanks to TipicME 3.0 APIs that allow RAD (Rapid Application Development) of phone clients, developers can concentrate on GUI (Graphic User Interface) implementations.

Flexible Pricing
TIMP.NET Enterprise 2005’s pricing structure is based on the number of concurrent users. Customers pay only for what they actually use.

Motime, Splinder and Tipic sites upgraded to version 2.0

The blogging platforms hosted at www.motime.com and www.splinder.it and the support site for the Instant Messaging Community at www.tipic.com have been upgraded to version 2.0; among them there are more than 180,000 registered users.

One of the more interesting aspects of the Splinder/Motime project is the way that it takes advantage of a series of stand-alone modules written by Tipic, Inc. which showcase the flexibility of Drupal's module-based architecture.

Perhaps the most innovative aspect of this approach is the way in which the platform is integrated with a XMPP (Jabber) instant messaging (IM) system, which runs on Tipic's TIMP2 IM server. Upon registration, the same account is used on Drupal and the TIMP2 server. Users are encouraged to 'subscribe' to each other's blogs so that when a blog to which they have subscribed is updated, an alerts module sends the contents of the update (blog entry, comment or both) directly to the user's IM client if he or she is online and to a dynamically generated web page, always accessible to the logged-in user. This mechanism creates the feeling of "live blogging" among the community members and leads to the creation of very active real-time comment threads when a group of friends find themselves online at the same time.

The system works with any XMPP (Jabber) client which supports headlines and Tipic has also enabled a simple one-click browser-based java IM client for those members of the community that blog from computers on which downloads are not permitted.

With the introduction of IM-enabled mobile devices, the idea of carrying your blog (and the community which it supports) in your pocket is suddenly a reality. For those interested, Tipic provides a free IM client for a range of mobile devices called TipicME.

The blogger's control panel has been completely redesigned and is a great example of the kinds of customized solutions that Drupal permits. Powered by another stand-alone module, the new release shows how it is relatively simple to add increased functionality and to create an intuitive GUI to support it. The blog owner has all of the blog formatting controls that one could wish for, plus a suite of blog privacy and community management tools that will grow ever richer in the coming weeks. There is no other CMS out there that allows such a streamlined development path.

TipicME 2.0 is available

TipicME 2.0 is now available for free download; TipicME is Tipic's client for mobile phones and wireless devices.

The new version improves the connection stability with the IM server. If you want to get a feel of how the client would work on your mobile phone, get an account on www.tipic.com and try the TipicWEB client.

MOTIME.COM announces innovative new features on its free blogging service, which integrates weblogs and instant messaging

Tipic, Inc. announces the upgrade of MOTIME.COM, the fast and easy way to create a personal blog, create group weblogs and chat with fellow bloggers. The new subscription service activates instant messaging alerts to weblog updates.

NEW YORK, NY, MILAN, ITALY – September 17, 2003
The creator of Europe’s most popular blogging platform announces the launch of new features on Mo’time, it’s new personal publishing and community building platform. With offices in New York and Milan, Tipic Inc., is known for its Splinder.it blogging platform, which has grown in just 10 months into the largest such service in Europe.

Mo’time bloggers are now one-click away from the fastest and coolest subscription system in the world of weblogs. Each Mo’time blog now displays a bright orange “Subscribe to me” button. Clicking the button not only subscribes visitors to that blog, but signs them up to receive instant alerts of updates and comments in their built-in instant messaging window.

Mo’time, which signifies “more than instant messaging”, gives even inexperienced users a fast and simple way to participate in the “blogging” phenomenon, the most popular new trend on the Internet. Blogging is the act of publishing personal weblogs, journals or diaries on the Web, and is one of the fastest growing online activities for all types of users – young and old, men and women, newbies and experienced users.

“Mo’time allows even a first time user to publish a personal journal in under 5 minutes,” declares Marco Palombi, Tipic’s CEO. “Just as importantly, we have made it very easy for our members to create community blogs, to make new friends and to keep in touch with what’s happening on their favorite blogs.”

“The great leap forward is the integration of instant messaging and real-time alerts,” continues Palombi, “whenever someone leaves a comment on your blog, or a blog that you follow is updated or commented upon, you receive a notification right on the desktop. With the latest ‘always-on’ GPRS mobile phones and Tipic’s free wireless instant messenger, the alert is delivered to your pocket!”

Everything about the platform is designed to heighten the user’s experience of being connected to a community, using tools that have been proven to be the most popular with current users -- instant messaging, web logs and wireless devices.
"We're already seeing Mo’time members using the service in very interesting ways,” adds Palombi. “If you're a teenager and you have a group blog on Mo’time, you can use that blog for organizing a night out -- you just post to your blog and everybody gets a notification. The notifications spur spontaneous online conversations which are then archived on our servers."

Mo’time is currently online at http://www.motime.com. In Q3 2003, Mo’time will launch new features such as the ability to create photo-blogs and to register personal domain names for a small fee. The basic service will remain free.

New York City and Milan, October 24, 2002 - Tipic Inc.

Tipic Inc., a provider of Open Protocol Instant Messaging Platforms, today announced the availability of TipicME, its client software for Instant Messaging and Localization Services on mobile handsets.

Based on Java(TM) 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) and compliant with the Open Jabber(TM) Protocol (XMPP), which Tipic fully supports, TipicME connects to any Jabber(TM)-based server platform such as TIMP - Tipic Instant Messaging Platform for Windows(TM) Servers.
