Features

TIMP.NET has all the features needed for Corporate and Public Instant Messaging use.

Presence Management: with instant delivery of messages, the presence feature is the foundation of instant messaging - every user who logs onto the server will have their presence registered with the server. These changes are automatically broadcast to other users when there is a change in status as when a user goes offline, is idle or sets "do not disturb".

Authentication: access to the platform is controlled. Users must be authenticated before they can use TIMP.NET instant messaging service. TIMP.NET supports multiple authentication schemes such as basic passwords, NTLM and digest. TIMP.NET can authenticate against email accounts using POP3 integrated authentication; TIMP.NET can also work in conjunction with an MS Active Directory or MS Exchange Directory services to manage users rights.

Encryption: secure communication is guaranteed by SSL (Secure Socket Layer) support. Also, developers can build on top of the client component any additional encryption method like, for instance, encrypted messages that can only be interpreted by intended parties.

Multiple domains: multiple domains, such as im.mycompany.com, mycompany.com or customer1.com can be managed with one instance of TIMP.NET.

Offline Message storage and delivery: just as with email, if a message is sent to a user who is currently offline, TIMP.NET automatically stores this message on the server and delivers it automatically as soon as the user gets back on line.

Multi-lingual support: TIMP.NET supports global deployment via multi-lingual messaging capabilities and, therefore, multi-language clients can be developed and deployed.

Message Logging: TIMP.NET supports different levels of daily message logging. Administrators can choose the level, from basic application logging to full message logging. Log-files are CVS text files created daily that can be imported and archived in applications like: Excel, Access or any other DB application.

Server-to-Server communications: similar to the way that email servers communicate with each other, TIMP.NET supports server-to-server communications to ease the manageability of large and geographically dispersed organizations. Multiple TIMP.NET servers can be deployed allowing messages and presence information to be exchanged across network and company boundaries.

Installation, Management and Deployment: TIMP.NET is easy to install and use. You can have your Instant Messaging server up and running in 10 minutes.

Chat Conferencing: ideal for collaboration and community building, TIMP.NET allows multiple people to join and participate in online instant messaging conferences; all messages can be seen by each of the participants. These chat rooms can be made private, if desired.

Management Console: TIMP.NET provides an easy to use GUI for managing all aspects of configuration, user management and performance tuning. The Management Console lets you toggle server plug-in features without shutting down the server, which is a crucial feature for maintenance and productivity. Administrators can also manage TIMP.NET remotely using a secure Instant Messaging client like TipicIM.

Development Platform: TIMP.NET has open APIs allowing developers to create IM services in VB, C++, Java, Perl, Python, VBScript and Jscript, to name the most common supported development languages. TIMP.NET lets developers implement IM service logic in their own custom plug-ins, connecting them to the server and managing them through the TIMP.NET Management Console, either locally or remotely.

Multi-platform Client Support: TIMP.NET is 100% XMPP compliant allowing it to be used in conjunction with all compliant XMPP/Jabber clients.

Multi-platform Desktop Clients: XMPP Clients are available for all major platforms such as Windows, Linux and MacOS.

Wireless Clients: XMPP clients are available for various wireless platforms such as J2ME, Pocket PC, .NET Compact Framework, Palm OS and Symbian.

Supported Protocols: XMPP

Supported Development languages: TIMP.NET has open and complete APIs that permit developers and system administrators to easily integrate TIMP.NET with external applications. All major development languages are supported:
